On Tuesday, the sale of Howler Head banana-flavored bourbon from Monkey Spirits, LLC to Infinitum Spirits was announced. A San Diego-based company, Infinitum Spirits is responsible for brands like Tequila Corralejo, Templeton Whiskey and Seagram's Vodka. The move comes three years after Italian conglomerate Campari Group purchased a 15% stake in the brand for $15 million. Infinitum has now reportedly bought all stakes in the brand for an undisclosed sum and says it's eager to expand Howler Head's footprint as it champions "distinctive and dynamic spirits that resonate with consumers globally."
“We are excited to welcome Howler Head to the Infinium family,” Infinium Spirits President Jan Tharp remarked in a news release. “Howler Head embodies the innovative spirit that Infinium represents, and we’re eager to take this incredible brand to new heights, both in the United States and around the world."
Known for its in-your-face banana flavor, Howler Head was officially launched in 2020 by entrepreneur Steve Lipp and Catalyst Spirits. Though he's frequently stated otherwise, UFC President Dana White is not a co-founder of the successful brand — but he is a partner. Whatever its association with White may be, Howler Head has been aided immensely by its close proximity to the mixed martial arts world. The brand recently resigned as the Official Whiskey of the UFC, propelling it onto the screens of nearly 975 million viewership households across the globe. Past brand ambassadors for the whiskey include UFC fighters like Sean O'Malley, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Rob Whittaker and Charles Oliveira. Apart from its flagship spirit, Howler Head has forayed into the lucrative pre-mixed cocktail market with a canned Cola exclusively available in Australia. The flavored bourbon is produced by Master Distiller Jacob Call at Green River Distilling Co., a facility known for fantastic budget-friendly fare like its Full Proof Bourbon and Straight Rye. Howler Head is aged two years in American white oak barrels with a #4 “alligator” char in traditional wood rick houses. Following aging, the bourbon is blended with natural banana flavor and bottled at 80 proof. [callout-app-promo]
