"I've always been about trying to create unforgettable experiences—whether it's on the court, DJing, or through my business ventures," O'Neal said in a news release. "When I first came across BeatBox, I saw a brand with that same spirit of fun and boldness that's really taking over the category. Partnering with BeatBox felt like a perfect fit, and I'm excited to bring our new Blueberry Lemonade flavor to the table."A year after launching in 2013, Beatbox rocketed to popularity thanks to a high-profile appearance on ABC's "Shark Tank." Mark Cuban invested $1 million for a third stake in the brand, and the rest is history — Beatbox is now conservatively valued at around $200 million and is sold at over 120,000 retail locations nationwide. The brand offers cocktails in malt-based varieties, the same as what you'd find inside a standard beer or hard seltzer, alongside orange wine-based alternatives. For Shaq, it's the latest in a long, long line of savvy business ventures. Though the athlete is arguably best known on the court, he's quietly built an empire behind the scenes that's reached into just about every industry imaginable. In the mid-2010s, Shaq bought and sold 155 Five Guys locations, amounting to 10% of the company's total portfolio at the time. He also owns a Krispy Kreme, 17 Auntie Anne's Pretzels restaurants and nine Papa Johns, the last of which bought the advertising rights to his voice and likeness for a reported $8.5 million. The former NBA star even launched his own vodka brand in 2012. Dubbed "Luv Shaq," each bottle of the coconut-flavored liquor featured an image of O'Neal with giant wings on the label. If you're hoping to pick up a piece of spirits history, you might want to look elsewhere — these days, next to nothing can be found about the vodka brand online, much less a buy-now link or imagery. "Shaquille O'Neal is everything BeatBox stands for as a company. At our core, we both care deeply about bringing people together and creating fun and memorable moments," Beatbox co-founder Brad Schultz added. "From the start, Shaq recognized that BeatBox is more than a drink - it's a party movement. His passion for music, sports, entertainment and live events make this partnership a perfect fit, and together, we've crafted a bold flavor that embodies the excitement and energy of our brand and fans."[callout-app-promo]
