Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Brings Back $1 Million Guacamole Giveback Program — Now With a Much Larger Scope

In years past, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has celebrated Cinco de Mayo (and, incidentally, his birthday on May 2) with a simple initiative. You buy a Teremana Tequila cocktail with a side of guacamole, he reimburses $10 off the bill. Time and time again, Johnson has pledged $1 million to this pointedly named "Guac on the Rock" program, which seeks to boost visibility for his already enormously successful tequila brand. Now in its fifth year, Guac on the Rock is expanding the menu. Throughout May, Johnson's Teremana Tequila is partnering with DoorDash to reimburse appetizers of any type. Whether you're ordering guacamole, mozzarella sticks or spring rolls, the brand has promised a $10 reimbursement via Venmo so long as a Teremana Tequila cocktail shows up somewhere on the receipt. Anyone interested in applying needs only to submit an itemized receipt to guacontherock.com from now until June 5 (the last day you can order a qualifying meal, however, is May 31). In addition to the appetizer program, Teremana has promised a $10 DoorDash gift card to anyone who purchases a 750-milliliter bottle of Teremana Tequila from an off-premise DoorDash location. This promotion within a promotion will be running for a limited time between May 1 and May 12.
“Five years of 'Guac on The Rock' calls for something special,” Johnson said in a news release. “I am incredibly grateful that we can play a small part in helping people celebrate at their local bars and restaurants through our expanded program. 'Guac on the Rock' has always been about supporting our hospitality communities and helping people come together."
Since launching in 2020, Teremana has worked overtime to distinguish itself from the celebrity-backed competition. Two years after its debut, the brand attracted German spirits giant Mast-Jägermeister as a key investor. In keeping with a long-standing goal to “internationalize” beyond tequila’s usual reach, Teremana is now expanding into foreign markets like the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Colombia and the United Arab Emirates, where agave spirits are still remain an up-and-coming category. The brand has been equally keen to maintain momentum within the U.S. It has sent out a roving Mana Mobile to feed first responders across the country, signed on as an official partner of the Texas Rangers baseball club and regularly launches playful holiday-themed initiatives.
