The Las Vegas Raiders is commemorating its partnership with Kōloa Rum, the self-described "Spirit of Aloha," with an exclusive cocktail bearing the team's iconic black and silver colorway.
Dubbed the Rum Rusher cocktail, the recipe reinterprets flavors of a tropical punch with Kōloa White Hawaiian rum, orange, pineapple, lime juice and agave syrup. Fans eager to taste the 15%-ABV cocktails can now pick them up at liquor stores throughout Nevada and Utah as well as at the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium.
The unlikely collaboration comes from nearly 3,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean.
Located on the island of Kauaʻi, Kōloa Rum prides itself on a recipe distilled exclusively with locally sourced cane sugar and rainwater. The state's rum history dates back to 1835 when the first recorded bottles were distilled in the eponymous town of Kōloa, a 20-minute drive southeast from the distillery's headquarters in Lihue.
Since hitting the market in 2009, Kōloa Rum has released a variety of coconut, cocoa and coffee expressions in addition to a growing range of canned and bottled cocktails.
“The Rum Rusher Cocktail is a testament to our commitment to creativity and innovation, and embodies the essence of Koloa Rum and the Raiders," Koloa Rum Company President and CEO Bob Gunter said.
Before taking on football-themed cocktails, Kōloa Rum collaborated with the Raiders for the release of a 5-year bottling in honor of the team's 1977 Super Bowl win. Beyond rum, co-branded alcohol releases featuring the team's pirate logo have been released at a steady pace.
In November, 1800 Tequila teamed up with the NFL to debut a set of limited-edition blancos inspired by the Raiders, LA Rams, San Francisco 49ers and more. Prior to that, the team worked with Woodson Bourbon — founded by famed Raiders defensive back Charles Woodson — on a 25th-anniversary commemorative bottle.
