The Texas-based Milam and Greene Distillery announced upping the ante with a limited-edition release. Adhering to all the requirements of a Bottled In Bond whiskey — produced at a single distillery during a single distilling season, aged for at least four years and bottled at exactly 100 proof — the new release promises a rich texture and lingering yeast notes characteristic of Milam and Greene's recipes. The bottling began life four years ago with a mashbill of 70% corn, 22% malted rye and 8% malted barley distilled in continuous column stills in Kentucky. The blend was then rested in char-4 oak barrels, 72 of which were eventually selected and brought back to Blanco, Texas, for bottling earlier this year.
“We’ve been eagerly monitoring the maturation of this bourbon for almost five freaking years and watching how it has developed into its gorgeous flavors over time,” said Heather Greene, whiskey blender and CEO of Milam and Greene. “I am over the moon with how this turned out. The use of the column stills in Kentucky and adherence to the Bottled in Bond Act regulations added a refinement and subtlety that fans of traditional bourbon will love.”
Founded in 2017 by Greene and Marsha Milam, the brand has hit the market with a variety of well-received bourbons that have experimented with unique weather influences and wildlife-inspired theming. Following 300% growth over the past three years, the distillery inked a national distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits at the end of last month. The brand's Bottled in Bond Straight Bourbon Whiskey is now available online at $65.
