With partisan discord on the rise in the weeks and months before the 2024 presidential election, it's all too easy to forget the smaller things that unite everyday Americans. Of course, we're talking about beer. A recent poll from YouGov's 2024 U.S. Alcohol Rankings takes a deep dive into beer preferences across the political spectrum. Data was reportedly based on interviews with over 5,000 adults over the age of 21 conducted between March and June of this year. If beer is anything to go by, it seems that red and blue states still have plenty in common. Heineken and Corona notched the top two spots on each list, with a total of seven brands shared between self-identified Democrats and Republicans. Interestingly, only three of those seven — Blue Moon, Samuel Adams and Miller Lite — originate from the U.S. Elsewhere, the lists diverge in some expected areas. Bud Light, Budweiser and Stella Artois were favored among Democrats but not Republicans. All three brands are owned by Belgian brewing giant AB InBev, which is still grappling with the fallout of a partisan boycott from 2023. Inversely, Republicans voiced a love for Coors Light, Yuengling and Michelob ULTRA that Democrats didn't reciprocate. It's worth noting that each brand is ranked according to "consideration" rather than sales figures. That is to say, the percentages for each beer more or less equate to a favorability rating. Where consumers put their money is an entirely different story; though Modelo may be the best-selling beer in America, the gold-foiled Mexican lager barely scratches either list. Sales behemoth Busch Lite — the eighth best-selling brew in the U.S. — doesn't make a single appearance. Without further ado:
